Failure to adhere to these rules can result in warnings for minor cases, and bans from Mocha services for severe cases.
- 1. Plugins need to be tested and confirmed functional before submission.
Any discovery of bugs that hinders the Mocha client's ability to function properly will result in a moderator disapproving your plugin and giving an explanation on what you can do to fix/improve your plugin and get it ready for approval.
- 2. Malicious code of any kind is NOT allowed.
This is a no-brainer. If it comes to light that your plugin intentionally hinders Mocha's ability to operate or put other users at jeopardy, not only will your plugin be deleted from the server, but your account on the Mocha forum (and Mocha IM server if applicable) will be IP banned without appeal.
- 3. Be original.
Tinkering around with Mocha code is always encouraged, including tinkering with existing plugins (with permission from its author of course. ) to better understand and grasp your potential idea. However, creating a plugin that already exists or stealing someone's plugin and claiming it as your own is not allowed. The only exception of this rule is to perhaps create a more up-to-date and stable version of an already existing plugin that has fallen out-of-date by at least 1 year.
- 4. No Copyrighted Material.
Transports to services are always welcome as long as it adheres to both Mocha and the 3rd-party's guidelines on applications. However, copyrighted material will not be shared onto Mocha without the express written consent by the 3rd-party. This includes using copyrighted assets to create backgrounds and emoticons. 3rd-party's are always entitled to contact us and report copyright infringement through our contact page, or our email at: admin@mochachat.org
- 5. Spam.
It's one thing to not get approved for something you created, I know it's rough. However, that doesn't give you the right to re-post your unapproved plugin and hope someone will change their mind. If it was rejected, chances are a lot of people have already seen it. Posting garbage submissions is also not allowed for hopefully obvious reasons. Warnings will be handed out with bans following repeat offenders.
- 6. Show a proof-of-concept.
A good submission comes with a good proof-of-concept. Please attach EITHER screenshots or videos showcasing what your plugin is intended to bring to Mocha. Failure to do so will result in your plugin being rejected. Usually people who struggle with one requirement are able to fulfill the other.
These rules are subject to change and updates whenever deemed so by the Mocha Administration.
Have fun, and make some cool stuff.
